NH Association of Natural Resource Scientists Annual Conference 2021 – Friday Jan 22 & 29

January 22

NHANRS 2021 Annual Conference
Online Event
Friday, January 22, 2021 & Friday January 29,2021

The NH Association of Natural Resource Scientists Annual Conference will be held over 2 Fridays on-line. The conference has been developed to reflect current hot topics. Currently, the NHDES is reacting and addressing the need for wildlife studies because of a 2020 court case requiring more than a signoff from NH Natural Heritage Bureau. Our keynote speaker, Scott Mason, Executive Director of NH Fish and Game will provide an overview of the Department and his focus on leading the department. Nate Harvey will provide some perspectives on identifying wildlife on sites and Tracy Tarr will give some insight on conducting wildlife studies for NHDES Alteration of Terrain requirements. The first day will finish off with the return of Jason Reimers who will discuss ethics for Natural resource Scientists.

On day 2, Paul Minkin from the US Army Corps of Engineers will provide a review of several recognized wetland functional assessments. Mr. Minkin will be followed by Karen Dudley, Soil Scientist, with NH USDA Natural resource Conservation Service. Ms. Dudley has been evaluating agricultural soils in NH for several years and will discuss identifying when a hydric soil is not a hydric soil due to human or other disturbances. The annual conference will end with the annual business meeting of NHANRS.

Registration includes both days of the conference. Videos of the conference will be made available for all registrants.

This two-day workshop accounts for a total of 7 CEUs (including 1 hour of Ethics)
